Our 2nd re-started 'Last Friday' social event was as successful as the previous month, with another great turn out of 22 people for the pre-dinner and some more for the drinks social afterwards. Conversations flowed as freely as the wine, as can be seen from the photo everybody had a lot of catching up to do. The Washington Mayfair hotel waiting staff were very attentive and the food served as delicious as it looked.

After finally restarting the monthly 'Last Friday' gatherings after a break of 23 months, we were very pleased to welcome a large gathering at the Cavendish Hotel. Very kindly the hotel offered us a private room to accommodate the 22 members who had booked for our pre social dinner. Afterwards we retired to the bar where we were joined by another 10 members for drinks and convivial chat, and also to be entertained by one of our own playing the baby grand piano !

After an absence of 20 months the Suit & Tie Society were at last able to gather for an event. A lot had happened in the intervening period, but old friends and new joiners appeared not to have noticed as conversation and conviviality flowed as freely as the wine. Thanks to the efforts of SATS and O&C member Phillip an enjoyable evening was had by all. Here's looking forward to the resumption of regular monthly meetings in 2022, Covid variants permitting!

It is sad indeed to report that Richard passed away in early August. He was a valued long-term member of our Society - having joined us in January 2000 and he had a quirky and individual character which made him very likeable (as instanced by the long list of shocked reactions to the news on his Facebook page). Approaching his 43rd birthday was a tragically premature time to leave us. He was to the last a slim, elegant, handsome and smartly dressed man, as the picture in characteristic pose (left) taken by a SATS friend, Nathan, a few weeks ago testifies. May he rest in peace.

Friday, 13th March, may not have been an ideal date for a revival of the once annual socials of the Traditional Attire Group, but despite the storm clouds hovering, the excellent dinner at the Farmers Club put everyone in an affable mood, and the genial atmosphere continued in the cosy bar and lounge until late. The event had been jointly sponsored by Sir Royston (pictured centre), who runs the internet shop 'Fogey Unlimited; and the Suit and Tie Society, and it can truly said that a good time was had by all.
